The Russell Partnership:  case studies:  Government & Corporate:  All England Club:

All England Lawn Tennis Club

The Lawn Tennis Championships at Wimbledon have developed from the garden party atmosphere of the first meeting in 1877, witnessed by a few hundred spectators, to a highly professional tournament attracting an attendance of close to 500,000 people.

Established in 1804, the Royal Horticultural Society is now the UK's leading gardening charity dedicated to advancing horticulture and promoting good gardening with gardens at four locations including Harlow Carr in Yorkshire.

The Russell Partnership was commissioned by FMC – the specialist caterer for both venues.

At the All England Lawn Tennis Club the Partnership researched the food offer and developed a penetration model which identified the commercial opportunities and identified the gaps in the existing food offer. The feasibility study established the financial opportunity for the development of three new catering outlets around Court One - the proposals have been successfully implemented.

In Harrogate, at the Harlow Carr Botanical Gardens the Russell Partnership undertook research to support and focus the redevelopment of the existing restaurant facilities. The resulting Restaurant Design, Planning & Project Management commission prompted the following comment from Mr Frank McCartney, Managing Director of FMC

“The Russell Partnership interpreted our brief precisely and surpassed our expectations in the design and layout of our restaurant at RHS Harlow Carr Gardens”.
