Wellcome Trust
The Wellcome Trust is one of the world's leading biomedical research charities and is the UK's largest non-governmental source of funds for biomedical research. Each year they spend over £400 million and support 3500 researchers in 44 countries.
Their mission is to foster and promote research with the aim of improving human and animal health.
The Wellcome Trust is also committed to engaging the public with science and research by funding a range of educational programmes and exhibitions, and also maintaining the Wellcome Library. With over 600, 000 books and journals, an extensive range of manuscripts, archives and films, and more than 100, 000 pictures, it is one of the world's major resources for the study of medical history.
In 2007, the Wellcome Trust’s former headquarters at 183 Euston Road will open as a new public venue devoted to exploring the science, history and culture of medicine. The objectives for the project are to raise the level of public awareness and debate about biomedical sciences in society, past, present and future and to create greater public awareness and appreciation of the Wellcome Trust's origins, mission and programmes.
Within the 183 Euston Road is planned a conference centre and exhibition space.
The Russell Partnership worked closely with the Trust ensuring all stakeholders were consulted and their views and the core values of the Wellcome trust were incorporated into the development and positioning for the new development.
The Russell Partnership created robust financial models, a sales and marketing strategy and an operational delivery plan. Having evaluated the market position, undertaken a segmentation and SWOT analysis, reviewed booking routes, recommended pricing models the standards of operation (SOP’s) were developed.
The business plan was agreed for the new development and formed the basis for the detailed brief for the architects and operational team.
