The NEC hosts more than two million people every year. It has 20 interconnecting halls and is a premier conference and exhibition centre staging around 500 events each year, ranging from world-famous public shows such as Crufts and Clothes Show Live, to huge international trade exhibitions like IFSEC and Spring Fair, Birmingham.
Working with the Board of the NEC Group’s catering and hospitality division, we provided integrated services to benchmark the existing retail catering, conferencing, hospitality and banqueting products and services across the estate, and subsequently refine the strategic direction of the business.
The strategy identified opportunities for the internal catering division to improve its operation, as well as external sectors to which services could be developed resulting in numerous contract awards in external leisure, destination and sports sectors. In addition, our wider associate team worked with the LG Arena and National Indoor Arena team to develop the retail and hospitality offering as part of the £28m investment into improving services and visitor experience at the LG, and the on-going redevelopment of the NIA.
